Here are some basic notes about command *git config*
git config --system user.name 'username'
git config --system user.email 'email'
Above pair of instructions will update your username and email information stored in file gitconfig located in /etc/gitconfig. These values applied to every user on this system and all their repositories.

git config --global user.name 'username'
git config --global user.email 'email'
The second pair of instructions will update your informations stored in ~/.gitconfig or
~/.config/git/gitconfig. It will influcences all of your repositories in this system.

git config --local user.name 'username'
git config --local user.email 'email'
The last one will only influence the information in current git repository,{git init path}/.git/config, if you do not specify a value(system, global or local), this is the default.

The priority is --local > --global > --system
