Fay: Today we go over thetraining programme which you will follow for the next three months, Tom.

 

Tom: Well, Ms. Chang, I’mlooking forward to that. I hope my probation goes well.

 

F: So do we. It’s rare thata new employee doesn’t make the probation through, so don’t worry about it.

 

T: Thanks. Will I beleaning new languages?

 

F: No, employee trainingduring probation is to get you used to how the company operates. After you passprobation, you can apply to Human Resources for a course.

 

T: I heard that if I passsuch a course, my tuition (/tʊ'ɪʃən/, 学费) will be refunded (退款, 归还).

 

F: Yes, we encourage ouremployees to continue upgrading.

 

T: So how am I trainedduring probation?

 

F: First, every Fridaymorning for a month, the system administrator Donna Wu will teach you how ourinternal hardware and software link up.

 

T: Why do I need to learnthis?

 

F: So everyone can help ifthe system fails. Also, it makes sure that you won’t do something to make itfail.

 

T: A good idea, Ms. Chang.So will I learn all of our customized applications?

 

F: That’s the second step.The second month, every Friday morning one of the application researchers anddevelopers will walk you through each application we have.

 

T: Are there many to learn?

 

F: Many. Accounting,mostly. This is to make you record your activities properly. The third month,one of our own senior programmers will familiarize you with all our projects.

 

T: Even the ones that arenot finished?

 

F: Yes, you need to learnwhen each code is used and why.

 

T: So if I get anassignment similar to the previous one, I can pull it out and use it as atemplate?

 

F: Exactly!
