Exploiting Explicit Paths for Multi-hop Reading Comprehension

The task and proposed method for 2 hops:

(a) Find a passage $p_1$ that contains a head entity $h_e$ from the question $Q$.

(b) Find all named entities and noun phrases that appear in the same sentence as $h_e$ or in the subsequent sentences as the potential intermediate entity $e_1$.

$($c$)$ Find a passage $p_2$ that contains the potential intermediate entity identified above.

(d) Check whether $p_2$ contains any of the candidate answer choices.

For $m$ hops, $k$ passages and selecting $e$ entities at one hop and search step taking no more than $s$ steps. time complexity is $O((ke{)}^{m-1}{s}^m)$.
