System Enviroment
App. software : Vmware5.5+Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition+IIS6.0 or Tomcat5.5.25
Objective
Web App.s deployed on Tomcat or IIS are always keeped available. So, all of softwares should be running all the time. One of the underlying problems is to make vmware,os installed on it and web server auto-start when the OS 2000 restart without people involved.
Main problems
a. After OS 2000 restarted, Vmware will be auto-started at the same time.
b. Once Vmware is started, Vmware will auto-loading the mirror files for win server 2003
c. Win Server 2003 will be made auto-login. After that, Web server also be auto-started.
Solutions
TO Solve Problem-A and B, some people said vmware can be made be a auto-started service for windows os by the MS os tools: instsrv.exe and srvany.exe. I have tried to do it by their recommendation, but didn't work.
My solution is revising the registry to auto-"Run" the vmware App. program once os is already started.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Run]
New Item "VMauto"="C:/srvtools/Trayconizer.exe" "C:/Program Files/VMware/VMware Workstation/vmware.exe" -x "G:/My Virtual Machines/Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition/Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition.vmx"
A tool named "Trayconizer.exe" appears in the Item value, which make the software to be minimum on the tray
To Solve Problem-C, revise registry item,
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Windows NT/CurrentVersion/Winlogon]
New 2 items:
"AutoAdminLogon"="1"
"DefaultPassword"="110110"
OK....
