Troubleshooting

P: Ports are blocked but no loop actually exists.
R: Disable STP.

P: There is substantial packet loss when you ping any address of a subnet from another network.
R: Some device (camera) in the subnet has been configured with the gateway address. This is an address conflict issue.

P: IPMI web can not be opened.
R: Try different browsers. Chrome, Firefox, QQ, IE, etc. For IE, you need to add the address to compatibility view sometimes.

P: There is a need to send a frame out from an interface without an IP so that the connected switch can learn the MAC and we know which switch port the server nic is connected to.
R: arping -U -I eno1 -s 0.0.0.0 255.255.255.255

P: There is a need that all interfaces in different networks of a server can be pinged from a third subnet.
R: Use ip route and ip rule.

P: There is need that a Linux server request for authentication so as to surf the internet.
R: curl -d “opr=pwdLogin&userName=lijing103&pwd=Lij#2019fh&rememberPwd=1” http://100.103.24.68/ac_portal/login.php

P: A colleague cannot logon to a server with VPN.
R: The server route has pointed the VPN subnet to another destination. Or the server has a connected subnet overlapping with the VPN subnet.
