Overall, I am quite enamored with the Ressence Zero Series with new concept to tell the time. However this series of four are very expensive- two models costs 9950€ and the other two asks for 11500€ in Europe.Plus, dude to the series is completely hand made, each model will be limited to 50 pieces.
Each BaselWorld presents some novel timepieces / watch prototypes. This year’s BaselWorld is no exception. The Benoit Mintiens Ressence Zero Series,Richard Mille, for example, is one of the most eye-catching watch prototypes exhibited at BaselWorld 2010. And I am thrilled that this interesting prototype will be put into production soon. Under slow economy, a brand new design really deserves attention.
As stated before, the watch details is fantastic, adorable, and highly impressive. The case is 1mm larger than the prototype and is fitted with a 22mm leather strap. And these two changes made the real watch is good. But it will be perfect if the crown is enlarged and shortened a bit accordingly. And I do wish this model was made as hand-wound model and has a power reserve indication.
The dial , available in silver or black, is consisted of a main rotating disk for the minutes, and three subsidiary dials for the hours, seconds and day/night display respectively. The display case back mainly exhibits its rotating disk rather than a common rotor. The crown is protected by a safety cover to avoid accidental time adjustment.
The Ressence Zero Series is very solid constructed and perfectly balanced. All details on this prototype is absolutely breath-taking. This is really few and far. The sapphire crystals on both sides are a beautiful asset of the watch. As most of the surface is covered by special sapphire crystal, the case is better resistant to scratches than normal. The dial is quite neat and harmonious, just like what you can see on a classic hour-minute dress watch. It is so beautiful that it is a bit hard to take if off the wrist.
