Remodeling InfoProviders
Usage
You want to change an InfoCube to which data was already loaded. By remodeling,
you can change the object structure without losing data. If you want to change an
InfoCube to which data was not yet loaded, you can simply change it in the InfoCube
maintenance. The following are examples of reasons for changing a InfoProvider that
is already filled with data: You want to replace an InfoObject in an InfoProvider with
another, similar InfoObject. You may have created an InfoObject yourself and you
want to replace it with an InfoObject that is available in BI Content. The structure
of your firm has changed. Due to a change in your organization, it is necessary to
compound InfoObjects differently.
Prerequisites
Before you start remodeling, we recommend that you backup data for security.
In addition, ensure the following:
1. You must stop process chains that run at regular intervals and affect the relevant
InfoProvider until the remodeling is complete.
2. There must be sufficient tablespace on the database.
3. After remodeling, you must check which BI objects linked to the InfoProvider
were deactivated (for example, transformation rules, MultiProviders, queries).
You must manually reactivate these.
Features
A remodeling rule is a collection of changes to your InfoCube that you perform
simultaneously. For InfoCubes, you have the following remodeling options:
