【英语】Even though / Even If / Even when / Even where / Even 的区别

前言

Even though / Even If / Even when / Even where 常常用于加重语气，口语表达里面用的比较多。Even 不连接两个句子，而且会根据放在单个句子的不同位置产生不一样的意思。

Even though

• 表示事实存在的

  • 句式：Even though [something true], something surprising

• 造句

  Event though I am fat, I can run fast.

  Even though bats can fly, they aren’t birds.

  背景：Next year, I might go to France, or I might go to Spain.
  Even if I go to Spain, I will still study French, not Spanish.

Even If

• 有两种用法
  • 表示可能发生（一半一半的概率）的
    • 句式：Even If [something possible], something surprising
      • 造句

        背景：Bob took a job test yesterday. Maybe he passed the test, and maybe he didn’t
        Even if he got 0, I still hire him, because I like him.

  • 表示 事实上不存在的 / 几乎不可能发生的
    • 句式：Even If [something false / impossible], something surprising

      • 造句

        Even If I were the strongest man in the world, I still couldn’t life that car above my head.

        背景：I just quit my job. I won’t work for my boss anymore.
        Even if he offered me 1 billion dollars, I still wouldn’t work for him again.

Even when

• 有两种用法
  • 曾经是真实的，并且现在是真实的
    • 造句

      I hate sweet food. Even when I was a kid, I still hated it.

  • 曾经是真实的，并且未来也将是是真实的
    • 造句

      背景：I can run faster than Bob, and I will alwayus be able to run faster than him.
      Even when I’m 100 years old, I will still be able to run faster than him.

Even where

• 在某些place可能会发生的事

  • 造句

    背景： Sometimes this restaurant is open, and sometimes its closed.
    Even when it’s open, I don’t eat there, because I don’t like their food.

    背景：This activity is legal in some countries, and illegal in others.
    Even where it’s still dangerous.

Even Bob came to my party.
Bob even came to my party.
规则：

1. 如果强调的是Bob，把 Even 放在 这件事（人）的前面 —> even + [Bob]
2. 如果某件事的其他部分令人惊喜，把 Even 放到动词的前面 —> even + [subject]
   • 这个组合可以用在不同的语境

• Even + [subject]

  • 造句

    背景 My party was great! Everyone came to my party! Bob never comes to parties, but my party was so good, even bob came.
    Even Bob came to my party.

    • 分析
      • Bob 平时不参加party， 但是这次 Bob 都来了，意味着我的party办的很好

• even + [subject]

  • 造句

    背景 Bob loves parties. He goes top every party he can. Of course he went to the president’s party and the star’s party – those parties were great.
    Bob loves parties so much, he even came to my party. (表示Bob很喜欢参加party, 包括我的，不论我的party是不是很好)

    背景：Bob comes to everything I do. Of course he came to my wedding and my graduation – those were important.
    But he even came to my party, even though it really wasn’t important at all. （表示Bob 跟我关系很好，他会参与自己很多事情）

    背景：I hired Bob to manage my party. He organized it and invited the guests.
    He even came to it to make sure that nothing went wrong （表示Bob 很尽职，来现场的这个动作让人惊喜）

    背景：Bob really wanted to help me celebrate.
    Of course he gave me mony and congratulated me, but he even came to my party, too （表示Bob来我的party这个事让人惊喜）
