Korea:KOTRA to host Korean Preview in New York during Sep 7-8, 2005

The Korean Preview in New York, hosted by the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA), will return to New York on September 7-8, 2005, 9:30am-5pm. Korean textile manufacturers will fill the Metropolitan Pavilion (125 West 18th Street, between 6th and 7th Ave.) and will present high-quality textiles including denim, polyester, silk, cotton, wool, rayon, woven blends, and home textiles.

This year¡¯s exhibition will feature 50 major Korean textile and fabric manufacturers, providing an ideal setting for designers, fabric buyers, and apparel manufacturers to meet with Korean manufacturers in person. As always, high quality products will be the focus of the show, and a wide range of natural, synthetic, and blended fabrics will be on display.

This year¡¯s show, the eighth edition of the Korean Preview in New York, will mark the first time that the exhibition will be held during New York¡¯s Fall Fashion Week. Over the years, thousands of buyers from top apparel companies including Calvin Klein, Dana Buchman, GAP Inc., Liz Claiborne, Phillips-Van Heusen, Ralph Lauren, Sean John, and Tommy Hilfiger have attended the exhibition.

Following the abolition of the global textile quota system, the Korean textile industry has moved quickly to develop various strategies to cope with international competition. Korean companies have shifted their focus to producing valued-added products, focusing on high-tech fibers in order to deliver world-class textiles.

KOTRA is a non-profit branch of the South Korean government that promotes international trade by introducing promising Korean manufacturers to potential business partners throughout the world. KOTRA organizes several international exhibitions through its network of over one-hundred trade centers located across the globe. Each year, thousands of Korean firms participate in KOTRA-organized international trade fairs and exhibitions, displaying their growing diversity and sophistication of products and services.

According to Mr. Charles Noh, Director of KOTRA New York, ¡°Korean textile manufacturers have focused on their technical advantage, enabling them to flourish in several niche markets in the textile industry. We have established a strong presence in the United States and look forward to meeting new clients and friends in New York City on September 7 ¨C 8, 2005.¡±
