Today I went to see a relative family in Mississauga. They have a son who is going to university this year. They want me to talk with his son about what major would be better.
[@more@]To choose a major in university is a very important step of a man's life. I collected some information on the web, university of Waterloo and University of Toronto are his two choices. But he is favoured the Nano technology and Engineering of Science. His father wants him to study computer science as both of his partents' major and work.
I explained which major is for and what the future of each engineering major, like chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, EE and etc. I just let him know, no matter what major he choose, it will have a splendid future. It is all up to himself. If he has interests in doing some experiments and don't mind get hands into the real project, any of them would be fine. Some of the majors might be focus on only a very specific area, some of the majors are very innoative, and some are comprehensive. But he has to devote his interest into it, or he won't be able to get good results.
He accepted my idea and would reconsider the words I told him. Especially for the following, there is no need for you to learn the space technolgy in order to get involved in space shuttle project, unless you want to sacriface your private life for the rest of your life.
