Oracle 9i Message ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Error: ORA-19511 (ORA-19511) Text: Error received from media manager layer, error text: %s Cause: An error occurred in the media management software which is linked with the Oracle server to perform backup and restore in cooperation with Recovery Manager. Action: If the text of message 19511 does not provide enough information to resolve the problem, then you should contact the vendor of the media management software. . SolutionThe solution was: The install locations are different on this server, so there was no /var/log/tsm directory as found on another server installation. Did a comparison of the permissions of every file in this installation to an existing server with a working install. It turns out that the tdpoerror.log file under /opt/tivoli/tsm/client/oracle/bin was only writable by root. Once the permissions were changed to make it world writable, the backups started running successfully.
