Picture this: You carefully fill out an application for your very first credit card. Later you receive ontification that you’ve been turned down because of bad credit. The letter states that you already own US$30,000 on several cards! After some initial confusion, you realize someone has stolen your identity!
可以想象一下,你已经很小心地填好你在银行申请信用卡的表格,但不久,你就收到银行的通知书,你被拒申请信用卡。根据通知书的陈述;你被告知,你已拥有数张信用卡,而透(偷)支金额达3万美金。最初,你感到很迷惑,但很快你就会感觉到你的一些个人身份资料被盗。
Identity theft consists of stealing someone’s personal information for various dishonest purposes. Last year in Shanghai, a man was arrested for stealing the identities of 47 people. Before he was caught, he made credit card charges totaling US$22,195.
身份资料盗贼专门由一些盗取人们的个人资料的坏家伙所组成,他们怀有各种不良的企图。去年在上海,警方逮捕了一名男子,他曾盗取47个人的身份资料。在他被捕之前,他已经伪造信用卡向银行骗取了金额高达22,195美元。
In 2003, identity theft increased by 79 percent in the United States. And the crime is spreading in Asia and Europe, too. It is quickly becoming one of the world’s fastest growing crimes.

 Personal and financial papers thrown away in outdoor trash cans.
 ID numbers, driver’s licenses and credit cards
 Information stored in personal cell phones, PDA’s and computers
 “Phishing” sites.

* 身份证号码,驾驶证或信用卡。
