ON SERVER :
1.Modify the follow parameters in /etc/sysconfig/syslog
SYSLOGD_OPTIONS="-m 0 -r"
KLOGD_OPTIONS="-2"
# -m 0 disables 'MARK' messages.
# -r enables logging from remote machines
# -x disables DNS lookups on messages received with -r
2.Change to /etc/
./syslog stop
./syslog start
ON CLIENT :
1.Add the follow row to /etc/syslog.conf
*.info;mail.none;authpriv.none;cron.none @loghost
2.Add the SERVER IP to /etc/hosts
IP-address fully-qualified-domain-name hostname "loghost"
3.Restart the syslog , The server will now start to listen on UDP port 514
