The Spring Value Proposition in the World of Java EE 5 and EJB 3
Spring 2.0, Java EE 5.0, EJB 3.0, how do they relate? Java EE 5.0 provides both a large set of lower level core enterprise-focused APIs, and a component programming model in the form of Enterprise Java Beans (EJB). One of the main goals of the Java EE 5 specification was to simplify the EJB programming model to overcome the complexity of previous versions. Among simplifications in the component model, new features such as Dependency Injection (DI) and annotation based interception have been added to the specification.
Spring2,JEE5,EJB3,so beatiful!
This session first looks at how Spring leverages and builds upon the base provided by Java EE, to generally add value for developing any enterprise applications. After a brief introduction to the new features of EJB 3.0, it then compares and contrasts the component programming models provided by Spring and EJB 3.0, including features such as dependency injection and AOP via Spring AOP or AspectJ. The session finishes up with a look at how developers wishing to use EJB 3.0 may still integrate and leverage Spring services.
