Senses as nouns：

I love the sound of birds singing outside my window。

I hate the smell of cheap aftershave。

I hate the taste of whisky。It’s much too strong for me。

I love the feel of silk。It’s so soft。

I love the sight of my own home when I’m back from holiday。

Senses as verbs：

Shall I open the window。It smells disgusting in here。/ It stinks in here。

Do you have to wear that shirt？It makes you look ridiculous。/It makes you look like a clown。

Why don’t you have a shave？You face feels so rough。/Your face feels like sandpaper。

I’ve just spoken to Tina on the phone。She sounded very upset。/It sounded as if she’d been crying。

Where on earth did you get this wine？It tastes revolting。/It tastes like vinegar。

Using our senses consciously

Come and smell these roses。Aren’t they lovely？

Come and taste this soup。It’s delicious。

I was just looking at your photos of the wedding。They are fantastic。

I always listen to the radio in the morning。

Feel this blouse。Do you think it’s silk？

Using ‘can’ and ‘can’t’

Could you move your head？I can’t see properly。

I think I can’t smell gas。

Speak up a bit。I can’t hear what you are saying。

I think it’s going to be cold tonight。I can feel it in my bones。

This dish is very spicy。I can really taste the chili in it。
