escalated.

Workaround provided to use a Win 2000 pc (which worked)is not acceptable as
they are primarily an XP desktop company. Need to have this issue resolved on
XP.

There is no issue with the Discoverer code. Problem is with the XP Sp2 patch.
One easy workaround is that
1>If you've installed SP2 and are seeing this problem, and if you don't need
support for East Asian languages, right-to-left languages, etc, uncheck the
box(es) in the Regional and Language Options applet and follow the
instruction for uninstalling (a reboot may be required).

Onsite Oracle consultant stated the following:
SP2 provides enough security and other features not to be deinstalled. It
seems that the software should be working with the operating system, not
other way around. If you could share this message with the Development, I
would appreciate that.

Update from onsite consultant:
I need resolution of this TAR by Thursday, 4/21/05. If the Development cannot
achieve that, I need to know as soon as possible, so I could plan a follow up
handling of this matter.
