Qibao 七宝

It is on the New Year’s Day, Jan. 2^nd 2007; we go to the Qibao, a very small town. Because it is raining, a few of people come here. Even though, it seems to like very crowd when you walk at the only street (I don’t know what the street name is), which just can passes two persons side by side.

Only some of people really want to seek the vestiges of the original shanghai culture, most of them come here to enjoy the snack. In fact, you will be disappointed if you come here because of the first reason. It is very commercial now. I do really find nothing which can let you remember the original shanghai culture. Fortunately, we are not these one. We come here for both reason. The first hope break, but the second one is true. (^_^).

All kind of small shops stand by the narrow street. You can find every kind of snack and enjoy them as much as you likes. We are very exciting about it when we arrive at the destination, and always eat snack during the whole time.

Some of the builds are very special, such as pawnshop. In the past time, it was the place which people pledged their valuables for money. People usually did pledge these goods while they really needed money but they couldn’t get ready ones. Most of story happened on the poor.

Qibao is already not the same as it used to. But you still can find a little trace. The bridges, the river, the pailou and the boats, all of these can let you remember the typical small town in south of china, especially on the raining days.

Qibao , a very small town, I have been to there now.
