[ERROR]java.lang.NullPointerException while starting TM1 10.1.1 Database Server

Problem(Abstract)

While starting TM1 Database Server from TM1 10.1.1 Cognos Configuration user gets the following erorr

" [Cryptography]
[ERROR]java.lang.NullPointerException"

Cause

 

Corrupt Cryptographic keys

Resolving the problem

 

Regenerate the Cryptographic keys on the TM1 Server :

1) Stop the running TM1 Database server (if any)
2) Stop the TM1 Application Server
3) Stop the TM1 Excel service
4) Stop the TM1 Admin Server
5) File ->Export As, click on Yes. Save the file as decrypt.xml within <TM1_installation_directory>/configuration folder
6) Close the Cognos Configuration without starting any of the services

Take the backup of your TM1 database Servers data directories to some secure location

7) Go to <TM1_installation_directory>/configiuration
8) rename csk,signkeypair,encryptkeypair,cogstartup.xml to csk_old , signkeypair_old,encryptkeypair_old and cogstartup_old.xml respectively.
9) Rename ../configuration/decrypt.xml to cogstartup.xml
10) Open the Cognos Configuration as "Run As Administrator" on Windows 2008 R2.
11) Click on Save
Wait till this operation is finished.
12) Once everything is green then first start TM1 Admin Server then TM1 Application Server and TM1 Excel service
13) Now start any TM1 Database server.
