[SunSPOT]Crashing NetBeans on Orange

This seems to be a FAQ at this point, so I thought I would post a general note about the issue.

Apparently there is an incompatibility with one of the (now discontinued) NetBeans Modules which causes NetBeans to crash uncontrollably on Mac OS X.

The solution is to remove the offending Module, which is no longer being distributed.

To remove the module:

1) Open a Terminal and cd to ~/.netbeans
2) cd into the directory corresponding to your version of NetBeans (5.0, 5.5, 5.5.1)
3) cd into config/Modules
4) rm org-sunspotworld-SDKUpdater.xml
5) cd ../../modules
6) rm org-sunspotworld-SDKUpdater.jar
7) restart NetBeans

Sorry for the problem. Leopard is, as best I can tell, the only affected platform and was released *after* the release of Orange.

I suggest, however, removing the module to all users, as it is no longer a useful module and all functionality of it has been taken over by the SPOTManager Application.
