Police officers have been urged not to take part in protest action that may affect their ability to handle demonstrations实证 impartially. The call was made following reports that some officers may join a major主要 rally集合 by civil市民的 servants公务员 a week on Sunday to protest against being excluded 除了from a one-off 6,000 dollar MPF payment announced in last Wednesday's budget. The handout救济品, announced by the Financial Secretary John Tsang, has angered many civil servants as they will not benefit because many are part of government pension退休金计划 schemes. Some questioned why they should be treated对待 unfairly since they too pay tax. The chairman of the Local police inspectors Association, Tony Liu was said to have expressed his desire 欲望to join the rally in the belief that off-duty officers can exercise运用 their civil rights. But, a force spokesman said management did not agree. He said police officers could air their grievances冤情 to management which would in turn relay转播 their concerns to the government. |
