same issue with fedora 18 x64:

  file /usr/bin from install of google-earth-stable-7.0.3.8542-0.x86_64 conflicts with file from package filesystem-3.1-2.fc18.x86_64

would be great if it would be fixed

How to "fix":
0. If you don't already have rpmrebuild, install it from:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/rpmrebuild/files/rpmrebuild
1. rpmrebuild -ep google-earth-stable_current_x86_64.rpm
2. Search for the line containing /usr/bin (the line: %dir %attr(0755, root, root) "/usr/bin"), and remove it.
3. Save end exit. Answer yes. It will then tell you the location of the fixed rpm.
4. yum install PATH_TO_FIXED_RPM
