JAXL is a flexible XMPP client for PHP5. It implements 15+ XMPP extensions (XEPs), including BOSH, XMPP over BOSH and External Jabber Components. Jaxl.js is a simple Javascript BOSH client. JAXL seems like the way to go.

The XMPPHP project seems to be lagging behind, with lots of open issues on their bug tracker . There is a fork on GitHub which seems to betting some love, especially the BOSH part. Another fork can be found at git.drarok.com/xmpphp .

Lightr is an XMPP and BOSH client for PHP5, open-sourced by MyYearbook . Their source repo only has the initial commit which was back in Feb 2010. Missus is another XMPP client , also last updated in February. PHP-Xmpp is a client that has only been tested with Google Talk.
