Introduce yourself

When you're asked to introduce yourself in a group setting, here are a couple of quick tips to make sure that everyone hears what you have to say.

1. Stand up completely before you begin speaking. If you start introducing yourself as you're getting up out of your chair, it's guaranteed that people will miss some of what you're saying.

2. Say your name and whatever other information is required. Own your name! Don't mutter it like it's unimportant. Speak clearly and make sure you give equal time to people in front of you, behind you, and to both sides. Then, before sitting down, state your name one more time.

3. Finish speaking before starting to sit down. As I mentioned before, if you're in the process of moving in or out of your chair while speaking, not everyone will hear you. Make sure you're completely finished with your introduction, and then sit down.
