what is soap
Much like web services, the broad definition of the Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP)
means various things to different people. It's a wire protocol. It's an RPC mechanism. It's an
interoperability standard. It's a document exchange protocol. It's a universal business-tobusiness
communications language. It's everything you would ever need. It's not nearly
enough.
explain it in four parts
1 formatting conventions
it specifies the style of the soap message. the soap message contains envelope.
and the envelope is make up of head and body.
2 protocol binding
it prodives a generic mechanism for sending a soap envelope via a lower level protocol.
such as http,smtp ,etc.
3 encoding styles
it used to mapping various application datatypes into a xml based represention.
4 rpc mechanism
provides a way to represent a remote procudure calls and their return values.
