It's the festive season.

It's the festive season.

It's the festive season.(这是充满欢乐的节日)。 (Christmas is the most important Christian festival.),也可说是The season of giving(奉献的季节),是和需要帮助的人一起分享食物和礼物的日子。

Marty: Why's everyone walking around with a smile on their face?
Brian: Marty, it's the festive season. The time of giving.
Marty: Ah is that why all these people are rushing around loaded down with gifts?
Brian: That's right. Giving makes everyone smile.
Marty: With the amount these people are spending, I bet the shopkeepers are the ones with biggest smiles. Suckers!
Brian: Suckers!

Why's everyone walking around with a smile on their face?

He sold the fake antique to a sucker from the US(他把那件假古董卖给一个美国来的笨蛋)。 Out of the mouths of babes and sucklings, we often hear home truths(从小孩子口中,我们往往听到刺耳的老实话)。

细心的读者也许会问:the mouths of babes一语,mouths用了复数形式;上文a smile on their face一语,face却用单数形式?按a smile on their face改为smiles on their faces也无不可。 Sometimes we must not obey the dictates of our heads, but have to follow our hearts(有时,我们不可按理智办事,而须跟随我们的心)。

严格而言,everyone是‘每个人’,其代名词应用单数形式的his,但his似乎不包括女性,说his / her又觉累赘,所以现在everyone / everybody常用they、their、them等做代名词,也不算错。
