1	Create a Mapplet The Developer Guide walks you through how to write a Mapplet. At a basic level, a Mapplet is just an XML file that wraps a mini-webpage that contains ordinary HTML and Javascript.
2	Enjoy the fruits of your labor First, install the Developer Mapplet and then add your Mapplet to Google Maps to see it in action. Don't forget to tell your friends so they can try it out too.
3	Become famous Once you've completed a Mapplet that you want to share with the world, you can submit it for inclusion in the Google Maps Directory which reaches millions of Google Maps users.
