1，以下是 lighttpd 维基百科上贴出的 lighttpd 的特色，可以有针对的研究一下。
2，lighttpd 中文网 有几篇分析源码的文章写的不错，有空也是要好好看看的。

1, ubuntu 下安装 lighttpd 非常快捷方便，直接使用
apt-get install 即可

2, 配置文件: /etc/lighttpd/lighttpd.conf, 当然也可以放在其他地方，通过 -f 选项加载

3, 使用cgi的时候
$ php-cgi -v
报出一堆的 warning：

<br /> Warning: Directive 'register_long_arrays' is deprecated in PHP 5.3 and greater in Unknown on line 0<br /> <br /> Warning: Directive 'magic_quotes_gpc' is deprecated in PHP 5.3 and greater in Unknown on line 0<br />

后来才发现，php-cgi 加载的是 /etc/php5/cgi/php.ini这个配置文件，修改其中的配置即可。

4, fastcgi confi
i see somewhere say,
1> , user need to edit /etc/lighttpd/lighttpd.conf and add ' include mod_fastcgi.conf'.
2> , in the file /etc/lighttpd/mod_fastcgi.conf
server.modules += ( "mod_fastcgi" ) fastcgi.server = ( ".php" => (( ...)) )
But, it throw an error while i restart the lighttpd:

Duplicate config variable in conditional 0 global: fastcgi.server 2010-07-01 22:30:06: (configfile.c.907) source: /etc/lighttpd/conf-enabled/10-fastcgi.conf line: 27 pos: 1 parser failed somehow near here: (EOL) 2010-07-01 22:30:06: (configfile.c.907) source: /usr/share/lighttpd/include-conf-enabled.pl line: 2 pos: 1 parser failed somehow near here: (EOL)

so, we can find the line below in the lighttpd.conf
include_shell "/usr/share/lighttpd/include-conf-enabled.pl"

the config file /etc/lighttpd/conf-enabled/10-fastcgi.conf is for fastcgi module.

Note: so if u need to support fastcgi, u just need to
> 1, sudo lighty-enable-mod fastcgi
> 2, restart the lighttpd
