Unlocking a File
Unlock a file to edit its contents.
- In the project navigator, select the file.
- Choose File > Unlock.
- Click the Unlock button.
Files in your project may be locked (not editable) for several reasons. For example, they may be header files of system frameworks, they may be intentionally locked in the Finder to prevent accidental modification or deletion, or you may not have read access to them.
When a locked file is open in the primary editor, a lock icon appears in the right side of the primary jump bar.
Tip: To unlock the file open in the primary editor using the jump bar, click the lock icon in the right side of the jump bar.
Important: To unlock a file that you do not own, you must change its ownership (in Finder or Terminal) first.
