Machine learning: A computer program is said to learn from experience E with respect to some class of tasks T and performance measure P, if its preformance at tasks in T, as measured by P, improves the experience E.
Machine learning algorithms:
–Supervised learning
–Unsupervised learning
Supervised learning: a set of data with ''right answers" are given, and the task of the algorithm is to provide more “right answers” (output)
- Regression problem: to predict continueous valued output;
- Classfication problem: discrete valued output.
Non.: features/contribute means input of data set.
Unsupervised learning: not told the data set. Instead we are just told, here is a data set, can you find some structure in the data?
- Clustering problem: divide into clusters;
- Classfication problem: eg: the cocktail party example.
