XMLSpy 2007 Now Supports Microsoft Office 2007 Open XML Documents
XMLSpy 2007 Release 3 is the first tool to provide innovative functionality for users working with XML data in Office Open XML formats. Business data that once could not be reused in a meaningful, programmatic way is now standards-based and highly interoperable, providing huge advantages for both business users and application developers.
Office Open XML is an ECMA industry standard spearheaded by Microsoft and adopted as the new default document format for Microsoft office 2007. Office Open XML files are zipped archives containing document content according to the standard's defined XML dialect.
With support for this new Microsoft Office default document format, the vast amounts of data being stored in Office files, such as Word documents and Excel spreadsheets, is now accessible via powerful new features in XMLSpy. Users of XMLSpy 2007r3 can extract, edit, transform, and process XML data from within Office Open XML documents. In addition, XMLSpy provides full validation of data in Office Open XML documents, intelligent entry helpers, and support for the development of XSLT and XQuery transformations for publishing or utilizing the data in other applications.

Altova in the News - Altova DatabaseSpy Makes DBs User Friendly
In a recent InfoWorld review, DatabaseSpy was described as boasting some impressive features, and it was said that its easy-to-use query tool is a boon to non-DBAs.
The review gives Altova DatabaseSpy two thumbs up for lowering the learning curve for a lot of common database tasks so that employees can concentrate on their jobs instead of becoming DBAs.
"All in all, it's quite a nice tool that's quick and easy to set up and use," said Sean McCown, contributing editor for InfoWorld Test Center. "Although it lacks some administrative functionality that would be attractive to admins, it still boasts some surprisingly rich features, such as IntelliSense code-completion. It's safe to predict that Altova has some pretty big plans in store."
