GeekTool started it's life as a software mostly used by computer scientists and geeks, hence the name.

documentation的第一句话，名字的由来：计算机科学家和geeks！
but，别害怕，后面还有：

The time passing by, I finally realized that those geeks from the beginning of GeekTool made things so cool that the that mere mortals wanted to use it as well!

GeekTool is now much easier to use by anyone, let's see what we can do with it.

无名小卒也可以轻松使用了。嗯，就是这个意思。

what it can do

首先还是了解下能干什么，就是能够定制化你的桌面，有四种工作模式：
File
Shell
Image
Web

每种模式最终目的是在你的桌面呈现一些信息，但都遵循下面的几个原则：每个桌面都展示，可以放到最上层（默认不是，也最好不要），可以分组管理（就是可以选择group去展示）

Logs Geeklet -- 打印日志

添加一个log窗口 => 在属性窗口中的file选项中找到系统日志 (/var/log/system.log)
特点：
自动滚动
支持正则

当然可以是任何变动的(日志)文件，实在是装x利器。
比如新建一个todolist的文档，然后编辑这个文档，就能够在桌面显示你的todo列表。

Shell Geeklet -- shell窗口

最强大的功能，这个需要会命令行。。。

Image Geeklet -- 相册

可以选择文件夹或者单张图片，设定刷新频率。。。

Web Geeklet -- 网站

打开一个网页，设定刷新时间。

open a terminal window and =>
bash defaults delete org.tynsoe.geektool3 defaults delete org.tynsoe.geeklet.file defaults delete org.tynsoe.geeklet.shell defaults delete org.tynsoe.geeklet.image defaults delete org.tynsoe.geeklet.web
as you can see, ~/Library/Preferences/org.tynsoe.geeklet~~~ 就是保存设置的地方。
