QNAP QSW 2108-2C = 10Gb & 2.5Gb Solid Performer. Perfect to SBHO Hi Speed Network Conversion & Expansion.
QNAP excellent Hi-Speed Network Switch, QSW-M2108-2C. This auto detect 5 Speed 10Gb Switch (2 combo ports) & 8 x 2.5Gb ports is just perfect. The 2.5 Gb ports also are auto-detect & each port easily switches down to 1Gb.
In the 10Gb Combo ports, I use a duplex fiber connection with a 10Gb Transceiver in the SFP+ port and a Cat8 cable in the other RJ-45 port.
I've tested the autodetect 10Gb ports at 10GB & 1Gb speeds via fiber network sources & also 10Gb, 5Gb, 2.5Gb & 1Gb speed network sources in the RJ-45 ports. All autodetected, auto-switched & worked perfectly as expected.
In the 8 x 2.5Gb ports I have Cat7, Cat6 & Cat5e network sources (2.5Gb & 1Gb network speed sources). And FYI, a 5Gb or 10Gb network speed cable source when connected to the 2.5GB port auto locks-in at 2.5Gb. All lock-in & operate at 2.5Gb except 1Gb locks-in as 1Gb as expected. The QNAP Qfinder Pro software is excellent also, that I use for my QNAP TS-253D NAS. Qfinder Pro also finds and connects to my QSW-M2108-2C over my network. The Managed Switch QNAP QSS graphic user interface is very intuitive and boots right up from inside Qfinder Pro.
The QSS GUI shows all active/inactive ports, each 2.5 & 10Gb port connected speeds, each port real time traffic and much more. Each port can be enabled & disabled from QSS GUI. Link aggregation is accomplished within QSS GUI, too.
Also, I'm connecting a couple of QNAP's 2.5Gb 5 Port Un-managed switches (QSW-1105-5T) to the M2108 ports. All ports show 2.5Gb lock-in green lights, QSS indicates 2.5Gb speeds and work perfectly.
The QNAP USB Ethernet Adapter QNA-UC5G1T from multiple PC's connects at a solid 5Gb to QNAP & my MicroTik 10Gb port. Also, Pluggable & Trendnet 2.5Gb ethernet adapters work great with this QNAP Hi Speed QSW M2018-2C switch hardware.
All of these Ethernet adapters are affordable to get the sources network signal up to 2.5 & 5Gb speeds from your PC's (vis USB 3 or USB C Ports) & 5Gb from your QNAP NAS USB 3 Ports, too It truly is plug & Play.
Will configure Link Aggregation using my ethernet Linksys Router Software & M2108 managed switch QSS software soon.
Also, QNAP 10Gb PCIe NIC's (QNAP QXG-10G1T) in a QNAP NAS & desktop PC. Its all a Flawless operation.
The QSW M2108-2C is the perfect core managed switch for a small 10Gb, 5Gb & 2.5Gb Hi-speed network (SBHO).
UPDATE 4-12-2021:
Recently I set-up Link Aggregation (2 ea - 1Gb Ports In Static Mode thus a 2Gb wide lane) from my Linksys EA8300 WiFi Router to the QSW-M2108 as LAG1 (2ea - 2.5Gb ports). Also, set-up Link Aggregation (aka Port Trunking) from the QSW-M2108 (2ea - 2.5Gb ports in LACP Mode thus a 5Gb wide Lane) as LAG2 to a QNAP TS-253D NAS (using both 2.5Gb ports thus a 5Gb wide lane). All are working fine and were easy to set-up. PC's with USB 5 & 2.5Gb Adapters are still connected in the other 2.5Gb M2108 Ports.
Also, one of the QSW M2108 10Gb combo RJ-45 ports connects to a 10Gb PCIe upgrade NIC in the TS-253D.
More solid wins for the M2108 Layer2 Switch "workhorse". All done with existing Cat6 cable. +++
