What is the max length of an ajax call url?

Is it possible that if an ajax url is too long, a 404 or 401 response is generated?

Actually this happens in my LaraAdmin application, where the request url of a module is 2043 characters long. It calls the modulename_dt_ajax url and it sends the column metadata in request. Is it possible that this causes the response with 404 or 401.

When I open the ajax url in browser directly, it opens perfectly fine and returns the expected json data.
