1. Present Continuous Tense现在进行时

▲ What are you doing-verb chant

The present continuous is used to describe something that is happening now, at the moment.(An action happening right now or something is happening right now) 现在进行时用来描述现在、此刻正在发生的事。

e.g. Iam writingnow.

Steveis washinghis hair.

Sheis takingher dog for a walk.

To talk about something that is happening around the time of speaking but not necessarily at that exact moment.(This action is in progress and hasn't finished) 现在进行时还用于描述现阶段正在进行的事，可能说话时并没有发生。

e.g. Iam readinga great book (these days).

↓Note： It doesn't necessarily mean that I am reading a book right at this moment. It refers to this moment of my life. I have started reading this book and I haven't finished it . (可能我现在并没有看书，但最近一段时期我在阅读这本书。)

e.g. Jackis learningItalian.

↓Note： It doesn't necessarily mean he is learning the language right now at a desk with all of his language books. It refers to this moment of his life.

Common time expressions used with the present continuous tense are :now, right now, at the moment, still . 现在进行时中常有now, right now, at the moment, still 等表示时间的词。

e.g. We are cookingnow.

I amstilldoing my homework.

What is he doingat the moment?

2. Form the Present Continuous Tense

How can youform statements, questions, and short answers in the present continuus tense ?

The present continuous tense is formed the present tense of the verb ‘be’ and the present participle(-ing form) of a verb.

现在进行时由be动词的现在时及动词的现在分词构成。

Positive(Affirmative):Subject + to be + V-ing 肯定式

e.g. We're holding a party.

I'm listening to BBC progroms now.

Negative: Subject + to be + not + V-ing 否定式

e.g. We are not planting flowers .

I am not chatting .

Question (Interrogative):To be + subject + V-ing 一般疑问

e.g. Is shejogging at the park ? No, she isn't.

Are they staying in the hotel? Yes, they are.

Wh-question : What + to be +subject + doing 特殊疑问

e.g. What is Mrs. Handerson doing now ?

What are they doing at this moment ?

3. Spelling rules 现在分词规则

Spelling of Verbs in the Present Continuous Tense 动词现在分词形式拼写规则

1.Most verbs add ing

e.g. Jane is eatingcookies.

We're startinga dance lesson.

I am watchingTV .

Are you talkingwith Lisa on the phone ?

No, I'm not.

2.Most verbs ending in 'y' add ing

e.g. My parents are buyingvegetables at the

grocery.

They're not playingfootball.

Grandpa is tryingto help me.

How long are you stayingin Toronto?

3.Verbs ending in 'e' drop the final 'e' , add ing

e.g. Is Mr. Green writinga letter in his room ?

Yes, he is.

We were havingdinner when someone

knocked on the door.

4.Verbs ending with 'ie' , change the 'ie' to 'y' and add ing

die-dyingtie-tyinglie- lying

e.g. Kipper is tyingshoelaces at the moment.

5.Sometimes a word ends in a vowel + a consonant, For example: get, run, swim, before adding -ing , the consonant at the end is doubled.

e.g. Are you runningnow ?

Tom and I are swimmingin the pool .

6.If the 2nd syllable is stressed, double the consonant and add -ing

e.g. forget - forgettingupset - upsetting

begin - beginningadmit - admitting

prefer - preferring

7.Verbs ended with c, change c to ck, add -ing

e.g. picnic- picnicking

4. Games

1.Fun memory game趣味记忆游戏，这是一个专门帮助学生练习现在进行时的记忆游戏。每一个动作有对应的两张卡片，比如ride a bike ，有一张男孩骑车和一张女孩骑车，游戏时这两张配成一组。

下载模板，打印后沿虚线裁剪，如果想重复使用建议塑封，打乱卡片顺序，并图面朝下摆放在桌上，轮流翻卡片，第一个翻牌的如果翻到"ride a bike“，要说一个句子如“He is riding a bike. ”,并把它放回原位，大家都尽量记住每张卡片的位置，每人每次可以翻两张牌，是同一组卡片则自己保留，不同则放回原处。最后谁的牌多即赢。记得每次翻牌都要用现在进行时说一个句子。

2. Guess what I am doing? 猜猜我在做什么，下载并打印以下内容，沿虚线裁剪，平均分配卡片，A手持“You are singing in the shower” , 则表演边洗澡边唱歌的动作，B则根据根据动作说出句子“You are singing in the shower”, 猜对则得到1分，然后交换，B表演， A猜，看谁最后得的分多。

3. Positive and negative 动词大搜索，在表中找到20个动词，写在横线上，并用这20个词完成现在进行时练习题。

4. Present continuous taboo将孩子分成2组，A和B，A组一个成员Jim上台，并给他一张卡片 (卡片不能给别人看只能裁判和Jim看)，Jim根据卡片内容表演和说话都可以，让A 组队员猜句子(要用现在进行时)，Jim 不可以说卡片上的句子和卡片中的3个单词，2分钟内如果A组成员猜不到，则机会让给B组成员，猜对则得分，然后B组成员上台，如此轮换完成游戏，看哪组的分多。
