基于IPMI协议的服务器主板控制器的设计与实现-软件工程专业论文

摘要

随着计算机技术的日益发展，不管是企业还是组织都拥有为数纵多的服务器设 备用于信息化服务，成为各项应用服务的核心设备，其重要性日益凸显。服务器能 否实现可靠有效的管理也变得十分重要，现有的服务器管理方式存在着时效性差、 占用服务器资源或不能进行远程管理、群组管理等缺点。因此设计一种有效可靠的 服务器管理方式是当前的紧迫需要。

主板控制器的设计基于 IPMI(Intelligent Platform Management Interface，智能平 台管理接口)规范实现，通过消息接口以及 I2C 总线实现对服务器主板上硬件进行 通信，对传感器的门阀值设置；通过系统接口实现与服务器主机操作系统、系统管 理软件通信，实现对服务器的运行状态监控；通过网络接口以及 KVM(Keyboard Video Mouse)技术实现对服务器的远程管理，主板控制器通过网络将服务器的实时 图像信息传送给远端 PC 并进行显示，并且将远端 PC 的键盘鼠标信号输入重定向到 服务器以实现对服务器的远程管理。主板控制器上运行有嵌入式 Web 服务器，方便 用户通过 Web 浏览器进行管理，而且 KVM 用户端软件也以 Java Applet 的形式嵌在 Web 页面上供用户下载运行。主板控制器集成在服务器主板上，采用 ARM9 微处理 芯片并移植嵌入式 Linux 系统，其运行独立于服务器的 CPU 与操作系统之外，提高 了服务器管理的可靠性与稳定性。

通过服务器主板控制器的设计，实现了对服务器的远程管理，状态监控，实现 了对服务器的带内与带外管理，而且不占用服务器系统资源。这种管理方式使得只 需少量的管理人员就可以对拥有上百台服务器的数据中心进行管理，降低了服务器 管理成本，具有较高的商业价值。

Abstract

With the increasing development of computer technology, whether business or organizations have much number of multiple server equipment for the information technology services, the server is the key equipment in communication network. The reliable and effective of server management is becoming more and more important. The existing server management way has low efficiency, taking up server resources, not for remote management, group management. Therefore the design of a new kind of effective and reliable server management mode is the current urgent need.

The Baseboard Management Controller (BMC) is designed based on the IPMI (Intelligent Platform Management Interface) specification. Through the message interface and I2C bus to communicate with the hardware on the server motherboard; through the system interface communication with the server host operating system and system management software, monitoring the operational status of the server; through the network interface and the KVM (Keyboard Video Mouse) technology to realize the remote management of server.
