Computer Sculpting Arts is a kind of man-computer combination creation that is based on the fictitious 3D space in computer program and certain software programs. The reasons for us to approve this kind of art method are as following: Firstly, no art is existed independently; arts improving with modernization are an important factor to enlarge art space. To look back the developing processes of arts, it includes many kinds of advanced techniques and materials in different periods; sculptors invented new sculpting ways with the enlightenment of soldering, electromagnetic induction, GPS etc., so that the sculpting fields were enlarged, the sculpting has got closer to people's daily life; Moreover, sculpting is a new visual art, a 3D plastic arts, a technical and material arts which is renewing continuously; computer is a kind of intermediary form which brought about the wholly new visual concept, and computer sculpting reflected the common requirement of sculptures in shape, space and materials. Computer Sculpting has become a new arts way of Sculpting with its unique arts charm, whatever sculptures、critics and laymen approve it or not, it makes lots of sculptors contributed in computer sculpting creation and related professions.

随着计算机应用领域的不断扩大，各个行业的专业人员参与到计算机软件的设计与使用，从而使其新的专业化程度越来越高的计算机软件不断被开发，计算机的潜在可能性已成为普遍的共识；甚至在相对比较保守的雕塑艺术领域也因此而呈现出新的面貌：计算机雕塑艺术已成为雕塑创作的一部分；由于多媒体在艺术教学中的应用，年轻的雕塑家能有更多的机会在这新的领域寻找创作灵感。

计算机雕塑艺术是在计算机平台上虚拟的三度空间里，根据一定的计算机软件程序、人机交互所进行的雕塑创作。我们之所以认同这种艺术形式，首先，任何一门艺术都不是独立存在的，艺术的与时俱进是艺术空间扩大的重要条件。回顾雕塑艺术的发展历程，它容括了不同时期的各种先进技术和材料；焊接、电磁电动、卫星定位系统等使雕塑家从中受到了启发从而涌现出新的雕塑形式，雕塑艺术的空间领域得到扩张、雕塑艺术更接近于人们的生活；另外，雕塑是一种视觉艺术，一种三维造型艺术，一种观念不断更新的技术与材料的艺术；计算机是一种新的媒介形式，实现了一种全新的视觉理念，计算机雕塑反映了雕塑的一般要求，形体、空间和材质。所以，对于雕塑家、评论家及其他行外人士来说，不管愿意与否，计算机雕塑以其独特的艺术魅力，已经形成了新的雕塑艺术形式，它使很多的雕塑家花不少时间从事计算机的雕塑创作和与之相关的行业。
