SP RETURN STATEMENTS
Since the SP RETURN statement can’t return tables, character data, decimal numbers, and so on, it is normally
used only to return an int status or error code. This is a good convention to follow, since most developers who
use your SPs will be expecting it. The normal practice, followed by most of SQL Server’s system SPs, is to
return a value of 0 to indicate success and a nonzero value or an error code to indicate an error or a failure.
