使用Empire EFI安装原版Snow leopard

What's Empire EFI

Well as we all do know that PY$TAR has came up with a simplified installation solution for installing Snow Leopard on PC. Its not something original as they have
ripped the great work of people who contributed a lot in the OSX86 Scene (For more details about it - kindly read it here - http://netkas.org/?p=299 ). Empire EFI is the answer that OSS folks can come up with something similar and something for free and just to show that it can be done. We hate people who would repackage it and sell Free
stuff and then claiming profit. Just for the geeks out there (or those who want to know whats Empire EFI is) :-

Boot-132 Chameleon (PC_EFI 10.5 by netkas) + Snow Leopard bootable kext + cool Darth Vader Wallpaper and + Post_Installation stuff

which makes installation of Snow Leopard a Breeze !


System Requirements 系统要求

Generally it works on 【支持的cpu型号：Intel i7 , Intel Core 2 Duo , Core 2 Quad , Atom , Core 2 Solo , Core Solo , Core Duo , Intel Xeon 】and its not supported on Intel Pentium 4/D , Intel i5 series and AMD at all. I'll be working on a special version for unsupported CPUs as generally it needs a patched kernel and a lot of patched stuff. For now
this is going to be a vanilla . You'll have to use Intel Chipset (Intel ICH7 and above). If you are not sure what chipset you are using , you can get CPU-Z（使用cpu-z可以查看你电脑cpu型号） from
http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php and check it out for yourself

Secondly , its recommended that you install it to another HDD (especially if you have Windows or another OS installed) as OSX requires a GUID partition and not MBR.仅使用GUID分区表
It would refuse to install on MBR (which is normally used on PCs). Don't come and cry like a baby saying that you have lost all your data. This is why its recommended to install OSX to another drive , if you do not mind losing your data (assuming you have backed up)

Thirdly , do make sure that AHCI is turned on务必开启AHCI (if you don't have it anywhere in your BIOS , its okay) and make sure that HPET is set to 64-bit and please disable Speedstep关闭speedstep


How-to Install 安装步骤

1. 烧录 Empire EFI 镜像。Burn the ISO（大小：13MB左右） with your favourite tool (Windows 7 has Out of the box ISO burning tool). I would recommend Nero or something. If you're burning it from Linux , there are lots of tool such as cdrecord. I am not going to go in detail how to burn an ISO

2. 重启电脑。Restart your computer (assuming the CD is in the drive) 插入烧录的镜像，重新启动电脑！

3.选择引导方式，empire EFI。 As the computer boots up select Boot Options or Boot Menu Key (generally its F12/F11/DEL or some key - You'll have to check with your motherboard manufacturer for that)

4. 等待empire EFI引导。 Wait for a while as Empire EFI (Chameleon/boot-132) boots up 。

5. Once you see Darth Vader , wait for a while (I would recommend you to wait for around a minute or so)

6.弹出empire efi 光盘。Eject your Drive. Simply eject it

7. 插入雪豹原版光盘（7.4G，按F5. Insert MacOS X Installation Disc (Snow Leopard Retail disc (The $29 disc) and not upgrade discs/recovery disc which comes along with a genuine mac) and then press F5

8.待empire efi检测到安装光盘，看到mac osx installation disc，点击开始安装。 Again wait for a while for Empire EFI to detect the disc, once it sees 'Mac OSX Installation Disc' , select it and wait for the installation to start


Snow Leopard Installation Guide - Since you're using a Retail disc and if you have not installed Snow Leopard/Leopard/Tiger in any Macs before , I recommend you to read this ( http://www.macworld.com/a...ow_leopard.html ) . It includes tutorial on how to partition. Be sure to run Disk Utility and select GUID partition scheme. I am not going to explain much on this as I believe there are lots of guide on how to format a hard disk and install Snow Leopard. You can even use the guides for real mac

Post-Installation  

After you've installed Snow Leopard , simply hit Reboot. Eject your OSX disc and insert your Empire EFI disc and boot from CD again (like you have did earlier). This time it should see your newly installed Snow Leopard partition. Simply choose your Snow leopard partition and it would boot. Run through setup assistance (and be sure not to migrate any data from your previous Leopard installation , etc). Once that is done

Right Click Finder in the Dock and select New Finder Window and be sure to select 'Empire EFI' and go to Extra/Post-Installation and be sure to run myHack installation first. This installs permission fixing script and Chameleon which enables you to boot to your Snow Leopard partition and other partitions. Secondly , be sure to run DPCIManager and then do use Google (to search places like insanelymac) if your Video Card is supported or not. This is very important , again if you are not sure if its compatible with Snow Leopard , you can always check the OSX86 HCL http://wiki.osx86project.org/

DSDTPE is included , you'll have to learn more about DSDT Patching which is needed to get few things fixed for your motherboard. this tool would assist you but however its not an automated solution

If you're searching for kexts , there is a link given (Internet Connection is required), simply click on it and it will take you to (http://www.kexts.com/ whereby you can get kexts (Drivers) for your Snow Leopard. this is why its recommended for you to get the Device Name and IDs before embarking on a quest to find the right drivers


Support

If you want help , then use an iRC Client (such as Colloquy) and join irc.osx86.hu , #snowleopard. Alternatively you may want to post it in forums. But bewarned that you may be bashed to death for using an automated solution as gurus and elite users would prefer you to do it everything by yourself. Well , since installing OSX on a PC is more of a hobbyist project , you are on your own from now

Note : You'll get an error after installing Snow Leopard (Installation Failed) and about something not being bootable. This is perfectly normal and Snow Leopard has been correctly installed
