The embodiments of the present invention provide a location management method for group-based Machine Type Communication (MTC) devices and a device therefor. The method comprises: receiving a location updating message transmitted from a mobile management network element, wherein said location updating message comprises the device identifier and/or the group identifier of a first MTC device; obtaining the group identifier of said first MTC device according to the said location updating message, and updating the subscription data of all MTC devices in the group corresponding to said group identifier; transmitting the group subscription data to the said mobile management network element, wherein the said group subscription data comprises the said group identifier and/or a device identifier list of all MTC devices in the said group. The embodiments of the present invention also provide the corresponding device. Thereby the network resources are saved, the signaling transmission between the network and the devices is reduced, and the efficiency of network control over the group of devices is improved.
