I took part in the fifth Robot Competition of Anhui province. After continuous efforts, we got the third prize in the end. In April 2013, this competition was announced in our class by Mr He. In that moment, many students registered for the competition. After hardly training, there were only fifteen students remaining. We were divided into five teams. Each included three people. There were three teams taking part in wheel type robot competition (or named intelligent car). And the other two majored in dancing robot. My two roommates and I engaged in the designing of robot dance. We controlled the robots by program. But the program was programmed in BASIC, which is a high level programming language. The problem was that we had never touched to that language besides C or C++. So, we must learn the language before designing the action. It seemed difficult but we had never lost our courage. After seeking enough data from the Internet and the library, we spent about a few weeks to learn it. When we felt the fundamental grammar was easy, we began to design the dancing action. That was the most important and most difficult part. We spent much time on each action. But we not only searched for the perfect actions, but the pace was also important. There was time limit. So, we must let the action bring into correspondence with the pace of music. Only if both are okay, then per is perfect. So, it was really rough process. Part by part, we never gave up. We cheese “can you feel it” as our background music. Maybe we should thanks to the dynamic song, we felt energetic that time. The night before the competition, all of my teammates and me stayed up to zero 0’clock. We wanted to change it better and better. In those nights, I had never slept well. It was really a big and important competition. We not only stood for ourselves but also CHIZHOU University. If you have never followed with us during that period of time, you will never feel the rough time. On the day of the competition, there were many teams on the ground. About seventeen teams, my team was the twelfth to per. Besides competitors, there were many viewers. Before we came on the stage, there were some robots falling down. I was very nervous. I didn’t know if my robot would per well. Second by second, my heart was like a clock, bang-bang, and bang-bang…Finally, it was our turn to per. We had arranged tasks well. One charged of turning up the music, one charged of saying: Begin! And my task was powering on the robot. “Five, four, three, two, one, begin!” With the slogan shouted, the robot was like a true man, an Iron man, moved. The robot seemed understanding the pace of the music, danced so smoothly with the music. The last action, robot bowed to all the viewers. Heavy applause was the most perfect gift for our efforts in hundreds days and nights. I almost cried, I hugged my teammates, long time no separate. After long time efforts, we got much but not only the prize. From this competition, I learned much. For example, if I had not taken part in this I would never know, program has so extensive use. And I learned a new programming language. And I felt the importance of team spirit. From that competition, I learn subjects harder and I always think how to use computer to solve problems in daily life. I believe this is useful for my future. This semester, I got much. Besides scholarships, prizes, what the important is, I trust the motto certainly: God help those who help themselves. So, no matter in daily life or work in future, I will try my best to be great.
