I am not sure if anyone
is interested in my blog, but I just to want to write down my
experience on taking the OCJB (previous known as SCJP) exam. Hope
that my experience would help others to pass or score well on this
exam also.
I took this exam on
October 2010 and passed with a score of 98%.
To be honest, most of
the exam taker would know that they can easily pass the exam by
studying only a few
“dumps”, which would also be available online. I am not saying that
dumps are evil and one should never use it. Dumps could be used as
exercises and should not be the only source of studying for the
exam. In my opinion, getting a certification may only enhance your
chance of getting a job, but not keeping it. In the long run, if
you don’t have the necessary skills to perform well in your job,
you may also lose your job. I think passing the cert by studying
dumps only is just a waste of time and money.
Here are a few books
that I highly recommend for the exam preparation:
·
SCJP Sun certified programmer for Java 6 study
guide : exam (310-065) / Kathy Sierra, Bert Bates
This book is an eye
opener for me and helps me understand much better what
object-oriented programming is. It’s not only a good book for your
exam preparation, but also a book you shouldn’t miss when you are
studying java.
Going through this book
1-2 times and finish the exercises at the end of each chapter will
give you a very solid foundation for the exam. When you are doing
the exercises in the dumps or somewhere else, you can always refer
to the study guide. I found that everything I need to know was
actually in the book and I didn’t have to search high and low on
the internet.
Hope the tips would help
you guys.
