Abstract：This paper describes the important role and significance of the design patterns in software design, and then gives the definition and the basic elements of design pattern. It also analyzes how to use design patterns to solve the practical problems in software design based on this paper. Singleton pattern in design patterns is widely used in software design. So we make a detailed study of the definition, intent, solutions, suitability and conclusions of the singleton pattern according to the basic elements and so on. Then we obtained the strengths and weaknesses of four common types of singleton pattern through making a detailed analysis of the four single cases and the achievement modes. So we can make different options of these single-mode cases according to the different requirements of the software systems in our design. After the analysis and research of the singleton pattern, we understand the detailed process and the methods of using the design patterns on how to resolve the practical problems further.
