项目英文介绍:
An intriguing aspect of biological membranes is the interplay of curvature and composition. The membrane curvature is modulated by adsorbed or embedded proteins and, in turn, mediates the formation of protein clusters and domains. This project addresses the interplay of membrane curvature and composition systematically for vesicles with adsorbed particles as a biomimetic model system. In a multi-scale modeling approach, elasticity calculations are combined with Monte Carlo and molecular dynamics simulations. The project is part of an international graduate school, which offers advanced postgraduate courses and student exchange with collaboration partners in North Carolina (USA). Candidates should have a master or diploma degree in physics or chemistry, and should be highly motivated to work in an international and interdisciplinary research environment.
