1. Always think of the audiences:

• how important it is for them? (Try to talk more about the relationship between our fields)
• method: if they are in the same field with me, talk more about the method, and the advantages/applicability/feasibility for my and their research; if not, quickly pass through!
• (only COMMITTEE MEETING) avoid repetitive talking about the same importance every year

2. Be aware of bad habit of speaking
3. Always add a clear title
4. Only use previous figures that’s useful to this study, instead of using everything that I spent time to read.
   Usefulness here means:

• for comparison, mine is better
• it’s the basement of my research
• to clarify some concepts
• or this is a review talk
• …

5. Distinguish the work that has been done by predecessors and me.
