Settings on the linux side
sudo apt-get install samba samba-common
#create a shared folder
mkdir smbshare
chmod 777 smbshare/
#add a samba user, mine is 'flynn'
sudo smbpasswd -a flynn
#configure the samba server
sudo vim /etc/samba/smb.conf
#add following content at the end of smb.conf
[share]
comment = Share folder
#this is shared folder i created.
path = /home/flynn/smbshare
create mask = 0700
directory mask = 0700
#user name
valid users = flynn
force user = flynn
force group = flynn
public = yes
guest ok = yes
read only = no
browseable = yes
available = yes
writable = yes
#now, we can restart the samba server
service smbd restart
Access in windows
After setting up the samba server, we can access shared folder by input \\ip in the windows file manager.
