Identify Orphan sites
1. Access Application Server (In Current ***Production Farm, it’s ).
2. In this location:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\12\BIN
3. Run script “orphan.bat”.
4. In file “orphantmp.txt”, check and Mark down orphan site ID and whichDatabase contains it.
Identify unused sites
1. Access SQL Server (In Current APAC Production Farm, it’s hk000tko1145).
2. In I: drive, run script: LastContentChage.sql.
3. For sites with the field “DaysSinceLastChange” larger than 90, mark down the siteID.
4. Unfold DataBase “SharePoint_Config”, in dropdown menu of table “dbo.SiteMap”, click “Script Table as” -> “Select To” -> “New …”, then run the script.
5. Get the site URL and which database contains the unused sites.
Communication
Get confirmation from site owners to remove the Unused sites.
Remove sites
1. Access below SharePoint link to update all details of the sites to be removed:
http://.aspx
2. Lock above sites in Central Admin site.
3. Submit CO to remove them.
4. Change above view of above link to “Ready to remove”, copy the command to remove the sites.
