Download DRD and Patches
An overview of installing the DRD software and required patches is:

Only if you are using VxVM roots: The patches required to use DRD with VxVM roots are contained in the latest HP-UX 11i v2 and 11i v3 Quality Pack (QPK) patch bundles. Verify (and if necessary download and install) the latest QPK bundle. (If you are not using VxVM roots, you can skip this step and continue with step 2).
Download the DRD software and dependencies.
Install the DRD software and dependencies.
Update the drd_unsafe_patch_list file (if necessary).
If you plan to use the new drd rehost command, you might want to install one of the following patches, depending on your version of HP-UX. Each of the following patches provides the newsysinfo(4) manpage:
HP-UX 11i v2: PHCO_39215
HP-UX 11i v3: PHCO_39064
Follow this procedure to install the DRD software and required patches:

1.     Only if you are using VxVM roots:The patches required to use DRD with VxVM roots are contained in the latestHP-UX 11i v2 and 11i v3 Quality Pack (QPK) patch bundles. To determine if theQPK is installed on your system, execute the following command:
  # /usr/sbin/swlist -l bundle |grep QPK

You should see both "QPKBASE" and"QPKAPPS" bundles installed.

If you need to obtain the QPKBASE and QPKAPPSbundles, you can download these patches from the HP Support Center at:
http://www.hp.com/go/hpsc.

2.     Download the DRD software and dependencies.

3.     Install the DRD software and dependencies:

You can install DRD from a depot with the swinstall command. For example, to installthe bundle DynRootDisk from the /var/tmp/DRD_xxxxxdepot location, execute the following command:

For HP-UX 11i v2 (11.23):
# /usr/sbin/swinstall -s /var/tmp/DRD_xxxxx.depot DynRootDisk

For HP-UX 11i v3 (11.31):
# /usr/sbin/swinstall -s /var/tmp/DRD_xxxxx.depot DynRootDisk SW-DIST

(Where DRD_xxxxx.depot is the location ofthe depot from which you are installing the DRD software.)

4.     Update the drd_unsafe_patch_list file (ifnecessary):

IMPORTANT: HP recommends that youcheck the FTP site listed below for updates to this file before using the drd runcmd command.

The /etc/opt/drd/drd_unsafe_patch_listfile is delivered as a volatile file with the DRD product. Most new patches areDRD-safe; that is, they can be installed by the drd runcmd command to an inactive image without affectingthe booted system. However, some patches, such as those that deliver firmwareupdates, cannot be made DRD-safe.

NOTE: The drd_unsafe_patch_listfile is only updated when the list of patches that should not be managed by drd runcmd changes.

Follow this procedure to check the version of the drd_unsafe_patch_list file and update thefile if it is out of date:

Make a note of the "last updated date" at: ftp://ftp.itrc.hp.com/export/DRD/drd_unsafe_patch_list. (You can open this URL in a Web browser.)
Use the drd mount command to mount any pre-existing clone:
# opt/drd/bin/drd mount
The mount will fail if no inactive image has been created. You can ignore references to the file on the inactive image.
Compare the dates from the ftp site file with the dates in the files /etc/opt/drd/drd_unsafe_patch_list and /var/opt/drd/mnts/sysimage*/etc/opt/drd/unsafe_patch_list (if it exists).
If only the date on the file in the inactive image is old, refresh it from the booted image:
# /usr/bin/cp /etc/opt/drd/drd_unsafe_patch_list \
  /var/opt/drd/mnts/sysimage_00*/etc/opt/drd/drd_unsafe_patch_list
Otherwise, refresh the files from the ftp site:
Download the ftp://ftp.itrc.hp.com/export/DRD/drd_unsafe_patch_list file to /etc/opt/drd/drd_unsafe_patch_list on your active system image.
If the mount command above succeeded, copy the drd_unsafe_patch_list file to the inactive system image:
# /usr/bin/cp /etc/opt/drd/drd_unsafe_patch_list \
   /var/opt/drd/mnts/sysimage_00*/etc/opt/drd/drd_unsafe_patch_list
If the mount command succeeded, unmount the inactive image:
# /opt/drd/bin/drd mount
NOTE: If you download the file toa Windows system and then copy it to an HP-UX system, DOS-type carriage-returnline feeds might be inserted in the file. To eliminate these characters, usethedos2ux command.

5.     If you plan to use the new drd rehost command, you might want toinstall one of the following patches, depending on your version of HP-UX. Eachof the following patches provides the newsysinfo(4) manpage:

HP-UX 11i v2: PHCO_39215

You can install the appropriate patch from thedepot you downloaded in step 2 with one of the following commands:

HP-UX 11i v2 ? Install PHCO_39215:
# /usr/sbin/swinstall -s /var/tmp/DRD_xxxxx.depot PHCO_39215

HP-UX 11i v3 ? Install PHCO_39064:
# /usr/sbin/swinstall -s /var/tmp/DRD_xxxxx.depot PHCO_39064

(Where DRD_xxxxx.depot is the location ofthe DRD depot from which you are installing the patches.)
