Error Message
Error - 0xe000fec9 - A failure occurred accessing the Writer metadata
Cause
This issue occur during the backup of Window Server 2008 R2 . Support for Windows Server 2008 R2 backup via remote agent has been added to BEWS 12.5 with Hotfix 331998.
Solution
Ensure the HF 331998 is installed on the media server then push a new agent to all remote servers running Windows Server 2008 R2.
How to confirm whether Hotfix is applied to RAWS running Window Server 2008 R2
Check the remote agent file version on the Windows 2008 R2 Server. The Version number must match the media server .
For example:
beclass.dll 12.5.2213.154
bedsshadow.dll 12.5.2213.154
vxmon.exe 12.5.2214.0
If the versions are lower than 12.5.2213.154, update the agent per the following:
-
Copy the RAWS install folder from the media server located at “Program Files\Symantec\Backup Exec\Agents” to the remote Windows 2008 R2 Server.
-
Go into the Updates folder.
-
Sort the files by dates
-
Install the msp files starting with the msf file name ending in SP2, then continue with the newer Hotfix updates by date until the newest one is complete.
