I just came across this site http://code.google.com/p/chromiumembedded/ Could be interesting.
F.Y.I. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chromium_Embedded_Framework
The Chromium Embedded Framework (CEF) is an open source framework for embedding a web browser control based on Google Chrome, it is a convenient way to implement an HTML5 based GUI in a desktop application or to provide browser capabilities to an application. It comes with bindings for C, C++, Delphi, Java, .NET, and Python and runs on Linux, Mac OS X, and Windows.
Although I didn't find time to have a try, I think CEF is very similar to ekioh. Mainly it provides a library libcef.so(as well as it's source code) which has some virtual interfaces and callbacks for developer to use. Then one can write a simple "shell" application to run a multi-process browser.
Take a look at here https://code.google.com/p/chromiumembedded/wiki/Tutorial
The Linux sample code which shows how to implement a shell application is a better explanation.
But at a quick glance, there're indeed some uncertainties. For example, if it requires gtk and doesn't provide other substitutions, the integration would be hard.
