In contemporary society, there appears an increasingly widespread pehnomenon that the birth rate is declying around the whole world. In this regard, there is an indisputable fact that children in this decade are more lonely when compared with their parents because of they usually do not have brothers and sisters. Therefore, friends plays a more essential role for this generation. When it comes to the topic that should we pay more time attention to keep the relationship with old friends as we have moved to a new area, opinions varies from person to person. I, personally am in favor of this idea that it is more essential to make new friends.

Admittedly, old friends may know us better, and some peoplr may argue that old friends are the treasure that we can rely on when we feel outweighted, and we should keep ourold friends rather than making new ones. Nevertheless, there are no reason for us to assert that old friendship should be more treasured. Some people have reasons to defend their opinion that they have a good time with their old friends, but what I want to say is that we would never know how it tastes like until we reached it. A long-term relationship is precious, but we need to face the future, and make more new friends.

For one thing, new friends share a new enviorment with us. When we are fresh to a new area, new friends are the most essetial resource for us, who can make us rapidly adapt to the new life and open a new way. According to a survey conducted by Tsinghua University, one of the most prestigious university of the whole world, 90 percents of respondents, the students, claim that they have gradually lost the connection with their friends. Therefore, we should more concentrate on making new friends when we need to adapt to a new circumstance.

For another thing, new friends are more likel to have more similiar aspects with you. Compared with old friends who are going to different ways from you, new friends share the similiar enviorment with you, and they are more likely to share the hapiness and success with us. More importantly, they may have common vacations with us, which means we can share hapy time together. Also, when we are faced with the twists and turns, they are more likely to understand you and give better siuggestions. Thus, we should treat the new friends with us and share our happy time.

In a nutshell, we should treat our old friends, but we also need to make more new friends which promises a brighter and wider future for us. Anyway, life was like a box of chocolates, you never know what you are gonna get. I belive that new friends could protect us for a whole long time.
